Project: 48,500 GSF Affordable housing.
Location: Downtown Oakland
Design Approach: The Savoy project renovated and combined two historically significant downtown Oakland SRO hotels, the Jefferson and Oaks to create 101 units of permanent housing for the formerly homeless. The project included façade restoration, a conjoined lobby between the two buildings, seismic retrofit, an interior gut renovation of the Oaks making all units handicap accessible or adaptable. Both buildings have storefront retail that underwent tenant improvements making the project a vibrant part of the downtown commercial district.
